900 years old carving of Lord Vishwakerma shows some instruments in his hand

A 900 years old carving of Lord Vishwakarma (Chakreshwar Temple, Nalasopara, Mumbai) depicts instruments like theodolite. Do you ever wonder how the leveling of ground was done in Ancient times?  During modern times theodolite is used for leveling. What if similar instruments were used in Ancient times too?

Who is lord Vishwakarma ?

Lord Vishwakarma is the divine architect. He is considered as swayambhu and creator of the world. He constructed the holy city of Dwarka where Krishna ruled, the palace of Indraprastha for the Pandavas, and was the creator of many fabulous weapons for the gods.

In this Ancient sculpture we can see that he has been shown holding some kind of instrument in his hand and one face looking through it. It might be a representation of a team of architects of lord Vishwakarma. In some other  ancient sculptures carvings are seen of unknown tools. What are they? Do these carvings really represent some technology that disappeared with Invasion? Or some other instruments yet to be known? Even today we can find an ancient temple built on a hill top, the ground is perfectly levelled. Ancient temples have much information yet to be explored.
